Preventing Homelessness During a Time of Crisis

In this time of rising costs and uncertainty, many of our neighbors need support more than ever. We have clients coming in, sharing even before the sharp increase in the cost of living, they were living paycheck to paycheck. Now, they are being forced to choose between filling up the gas tank to get to work or buying groceries for their children.

This is where you can make a difference. Interfaith's emergency fund was created to respond directly to our community’s urgent needs. A single donation can provide critical, immediate assistance to a family in crisis.  

Your support helps prevent a family from falling into homelessness by providing rental assistance, utilities, groceries, gas, and other emergency support. Here is one recent example of how rapid response and community generosity have already changed lives.

On February 2nd, a fire tore through a San Marcos apartment complex, leaving at least 11 individuals without a home. Interfaith was able to support two of the displaced families. Both households were financially stable and working full-time before the fire, but the sudden loss of their homes brought unexpected emotional and financial strain. They also lost several days of income while taking time off work to recover and regroup. With the community fund, Interfaith covered their first month’s rent, security deposits, and even a pet deposit for one of the families.

Amplified Impact: Music Festival

We are excited to introduce Amplified Impact, a brand-new free event designed to celebrate the causes and communities that make North County San Diego thrive. Mark your calendars for May 9th from 3 – 8 p.m. at the Junior Seau Amphitheater (301 The Strand N, Oceanside).

We are bringing together local bands, including groups from faith communities and schools, to battle it out for charity. Come listen to local music while supporting Interfaith’s mission to empower people in need.

In addition to the music, we’ll have our Vintage Marketplace where local creators, artists, and Interfaith’s own thrift store, Kind Threads Resale Apparel, will showcase their work and merchandise. Enjoy delicious food trucks, cultural performances, and more throughout the day.

Celebrating Spring with our Residents

This past weekend, National Charity League (NCL) Poway hosted its Second Annual Spring at Turk event for residents at our Turk Recuperative Care Program. After the success of last year’s gathering, the NCL team returned with even bigger plans. Building on the success of last year’s gathering, the chapter returned with expanded activities and support from local business sponsors.

Residents received activity bingo cards that guided him through a variety of booths, where they selected personalized hygiene items, decorate succulents, and created their own bouquets. After completing their bingo cards, participants were entered into a drawing for gift cards. With 45 residents in attendance, this was our most successful event at our Turk Center to date.

Kind Threads Sustainable Art Competition

Thank you to everyone who participated and attended Kind Thread’s Art Apart event, our sustainable art competition and gallery. Community members were invited to craft unique masterpieces through recycled items, such as cardboard, paper, clothing, buttons, yarn, and more. Everyone was a winner, highlighting that anyone can be an artist.

All art is on display at Kind Threads and available for purchase. All proceeds will go back to our neighbors in need. Visit Kind Threads located at 251. N City Dr. in San Marcos, open Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
