Interfaith program: Transitional Youth Academy (TYA)

Amount needed: $300 for underclass scholars (grades 9-11); $750 for seniors

Through TYA’s Adopt-a-Scholar program, donors provide funds students need throughout the year. For Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors, your donation will provide items such as yearbooks, ASB cards, PE clothes, exam fees, and tickets to dance and sporting events.

Senior expenses, as you may know from painful experience, are much higher. Donations help fund a cap and gown, Grad Night ($250 alone!), Senior Breakfast, senior photos, college applications, and a yearbook.

About Transitional Youth Academy

Interfaith’s Transitional Youth Academy (TYA) supports low-income and vulnerable area students at risk of not graduating due to homelessness or other related challenges. An onsite case manager supports them emotionally and academically, as well as through financial support so that they can stay in school, graduate, and attend college, join the military, or obtain full-time employment.

Last year, 100% of our TYA students successfully improved their attendance rates, graduated high school, and 90% enrolled in higher education.

Funds also support hosting weekly Leadership Academy lunch sessions and invite inspiring guest speakers to share their personal journeys to becoming leaders in the community
