Scholar
Through TYA’s Sponsor a Scholar program, mentors help provide increasingly expensive school year costs, to encourage students’ sense of belonging and school pride, and increase their excitement and optimism about their futures.
Interfaith’s Transitional Youth Academy (TYA) supports low-income and vulnerable area students at risk of not graduating due to homelessness or other related challenges. An onsite case manager supports them emotionally and academically, as well as through financial support so that they can stay in school, graduate, and attend college, join the military, or obtain full-time employment.
Last year, 100% of our TYA students successfully improved their attendance rates, graduated high school, and 90% enrolled in higher education.
Through TYA’s Sponsor a Scholar program, mentors help support our high school students in grades 9-12 with expenses such as:
Yearbook
School dances and sports events
ASB card
PE clothes
School supplies
A donation of $300 will support an underclass student. A donation of $700 will support a senior, who will need to purchase additional items such as cap and gown, Grad Night, prom tickets and attire, etc. Donations of any amount are welcomed and appreciated, and will be applied to students most in need.
Funds also support hosting weekly leadership academy lunch sessions (including a Girls’ Empowerment Group) and invite inspiring guest speakers to share their personal journeys to becoming leaders in the community.
