Interfaith’s programs and services would not be possible without the support of our incredible volunteers. Nearly every aspect of Interfaith is contingent upon volunteer support, and the opportunities for participation reflect the wide range of services Interfaith provides.
If you are looking to give back to the community, as an individual or as part of a group, Interfaith is the place for you!
Help Make a Home: Adopt-A-Unit and Mentor-A-Family
Interfaith Community Services currently has many apartment homes and families needing your love and attention. By 'Adopting-A-Unit', you are helping prepare one of our more than 80 apartment units for a new family to move in. Preparations can include painting, minor home repairs, and furnishing of the home with furniture and basic house-wares, such a bedding, linens, and small kitchen appliances.
Be involed and mentor the new family through Interfaith's Mentor-A-Family program. Support the family in helping achieve their goals by providing guidance, encouragement, and a support system that will propel the family to self-suffiency.
There are many ways that you, your congregation, service club, or business can help make a lasting impression on a local North County family.

Last year, Interfaith served and provided more than 375,000 meals to people in need throughout North County and more than half of those served were children. With the help of local service clubs, faith centers, corporations, and schools, we are able to provide a 3-day supply of emergency food for families struggling in our community.
Want to help make a difference in your own community? Hunger is not only a seasonal need, but a year-round struggle for many of our neighbors. Our Director of Basic Needs, Jerry Morgan, coined the campaign "Hunger Has No Holidays" to encourage local groups to organize food drives not only during the holiday season, but throughout the spring and summer as well. Warmer summer months are historically "slower" times for food drive giving and our pantry is often unable to keep up with the demand. Make a real difference and help Interfaith feed those in need every day of the year!

Why Volunteer?
Having been a "professional" volunteer for many years, I feel that working at Interfaith has been the most gratifying of all the jobs I have had. There are so many people who are needy, not necessarily due to their own fault. Advising and helping them, if only temporarily, to get back on their feet, makes me feel that I have accomplished something. Not only that, but the staff is great and makes me feel appreciated. After 20 years at Interfaith, I would not trade my volunteering for anything else. -Giselle Zanders
Volunteering is a way for me to fulfill my purpose in life of helping other people. At Interfaith, I am able to do this by using the skills that I have gained through past experience.
Since I am fortunate enough to be retired and still have my health and energy, I can help people prepare their tax returns—which I love to do—or assist with legal clinic/intake. These are activities that clients can not take care of themselves and need our services.
